Floor person

The Floor Person plays a vital role in supporting daily production operations. This position is responsible for safely handling materials, assisting with oven curing procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. The Floor Person works closely with supervisors, group leaders, and production associates to keep processes running efficiently and in compliance with quality and safety standards.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior manufacturing or material handling experience a plus.
• Forklift/tow-motor certification or ability to obtain.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

Set-Up

• Log into computer systems with assigned credentials.
• Verify calibration checks.
• Review scheduled tasks and production requirements.

In-Process Tasks

• Retrieve mil spec or commercial stock from Banbury or Matte Room and scan out per Form 1999 instructions.
• For mil spec orders, cut and send lab samples to confirm compliance.
• Confirm all stock has an approved Lab stamp.
• Load and unload ovens.
• Deliver materials from wind-ups to shipping, buffer, Lever, or printing as required by WIP documentation.
• Collect shells from Press Room and Cam Machines.
• Obtain pallets for calendars and wind-ups.
• Reprint and place lot tags on unused rubber in Matte Room.

Curing Procedures

• Pick up rolls upon notification from calendar crew.
• Transport rolls to ovens or press room by tow-motor.
• Assist Supervisor/Group Leader in recording oven chart data and verifying correct time/temperature stamps.
• Monitor curing conditions according to product requirements:
• Standard cure: 10 hours at 310°F (+5/-0 hrs, ±20°F).
• Viton cure: 16 hours at 450°F.
• Special orders may vary.
• Verify oven charts, ensure ink is functioning, and file completed charts in the Mill Room Office (retain for 1 year).
• Unload cured rolls and deliver to wind-up.

Other Duties

• Receive and unload trucks; transport materials to proper department destinations.
• Coordinate with Banbury for tagging and receiving of incoming materials.
• Process raw materials in the computer system; print and attach lot tags.
• Dispose of obsolete raw materials as directed.
• Perform housekeeping duties: empty trash once per shift, sweep floors, and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
• Complete forklift preventive maintenance form and follow all safety procedures.
