AWS/CES is looking for a Controls Engineer – Temp to Hire
Location: Toledo, OH
Pay: $70/hr
Schedule: Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire and Day shift

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Toledo, OH. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing, improving, and supporting manufacturing processes, ensuring maximum productivity, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in process engineering, lean manufacturing, robotics, PLCs, and quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  
  

  Develop and improve processes to achieve the most productive and cost-effective manufacturing methods

• 
  
  

  Create detailed work instructions, setup procedures, and operating documentation

• 
  
  

  Utilize lean manufacturing techniques for continuous improvement

• 
  
  

  Develop and maintain process sheets, PFMEAs, and control plans

• 
  
  

  Maintain IATF 16949 documentation and ensure compliance with standards

• 
  
  

  Support APQP activities and new product launch management

• 
  
  

  Facilitate PPAP submissions and apply statistical techniques

• 
  
  

  Assist in problem-solving and quality concern resolution with internal teams and customers

• 
  
  

  Review pareto data and lead projects to reduce scrap

• 
  
  

  Work with machine builders to optimize layouts and strategies

• 
  
  

  Support supplier development, process improvements, and data analysis

• 
  
  

  Travel to plants, customers, and suppliers as required

• 
  
  

  Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

• 
  
  

  BS in Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering field (or equivalent experience)

• 
  
  

  4–6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

• 
  
  

  Robotics and PLC knowledge strongly preferred

• 
  
  

  Thorough understanding of IATF 16949 standards

• 
  
  

  Experience with PFMEA, DOE, APQP, PPAP, and lean manufacturing practices

• 
  
  

  Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability

• 
  
  

  Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking skills

• 
  
  

  Ability to work independently with limited supervision

• 
  
  

  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• 
  
  

  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across all levels of the organization

• 
  
  

  Excellent attendance record and strong work ethic
