About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Lancesoft Inc to find a qualified Other RN in Cincinnati, Ohio, 45201!

We are seeking an experienced  Registered Nurse – ECMO Specialist  to provide advanced life support care for critically ill patients requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This role involves managing ECMO systems and delivering 1:1 patient care across multiple critical care units, including NICU, PICU, and CICU.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor ECMO systems for patients with severe cardiac and/or respiratory failure
• Provide continuous 1:1 bedside patient care
• Support patients in NICU, PICU, and CICU requiring ECMO therapy
• Perform ECMO pump management and troubleshoot system issues
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and critical care physicians
• Monitor patient status and adjust care plans accordingly
• Document patient care using electronic charting systems
• Assist in life-saving interventions and critical care procedures

Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in ECMO system operation and troubleshooting
• Critical care nursing skills across neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations
• Ability to manage high-acuity patients in fast-paced environments
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with advanced life support technologies

Work Environment

• Facility Type: Pediatric Acute Care / Teaching Hospital
• Units Covered: NICU, PICU, CICU
• Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
• Average Census: 3–4 ECMO patients
• Equipment Used: Spectrum ECMO system, Centrimag (for cardiac support cases)

Scheduling & Additional Details

• 1:1 staffing across all shifts (Days/Nights/Weekends)
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Floating required if no ECMO patients
• Orientation: 24 hours
• One pre-approved time-off request allowed

Additional Notes

• Must have hands-on ECMO specialist experience
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required
• Work involves caring for patients requiring ECMO support as a bridge to recovery or transplant

Requirements

Experience Required:

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with ECMO specialist/pump management experience (required)

Certifications Required:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Patient Care Ratio: 1:1
• Travel Experience: Not required
