Ohio Nursing Job Details

• Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Corrections Health Unit – PCU & Medical-Surgical
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens travel contract
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: January 12, 2026 (option to extend to January 17, 2026)
• Contract Duration: 16 weeks
• Nursing Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day: 7:00am–7:30pm; Night: 7:00pm–7:30am; may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940–$1990
• Unit Details: Locked corrections unit for ODRC inmates; nurse-to-patient ratio 1:3 (PCU), 1:4-5 (Med-Surg)
• Systems Used: EPIC (documentation), Pyxis (medication management)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry nursing preferred)
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications (preferred)
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• Ability to float to Oncology and Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Two professional references (one from a manager/director or formal leadership; second may be a Charge RN)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with oncology diagnoses, oncology workups, and diverse medical conditions (COPD, sepsis, surgical procedures, etc.)
• Float between Progressive Care Unit and Medical-Surgical assignments based on unit needs
• Maintain staff and patient safety in a secure corrections unit
• Monitor and manage cardiac rhythms, dysrhythmias, and telemetry
• Administer medications, including cardiac drips (no titration), heparin protocols, and blood products
• Perform IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and phlebotomy
• Manage respiratory therapies (CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy, oxygen delivery)
• Provide endocrine/metabolic care (IV insulin protocols), feeding tube management, and renal failure management (pre/post hemodialysis)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: pharmacy, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
• Utilize EPIC for clinical documentation and Pyxis for medication administration
