Technical Specialist 4 – Snowflake & Big Data Migration

We're looking for a highly skilled Technical Specialist to take on a critical role in migrating our ODM Enterprise Data Warehouse from a Big Data/Hadoop environment to Snowflake —powering data insights that drive strategic healthcare and business decisions for years to come.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of a major enterprise transformation , designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance Snowflake solutions while ensuring data quality across diverse sources. You'll collaborate with talented engineers, architects, and data governance teams—making an impact on how data is managed, analyzed, and leveraged across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Lead the migration of production data (weekly, monthly, yearly) from Hadoop/Big Data to Snowflake.

• Develop and optimize Snowflake solutions —including Snowpark Python features, Snowpipe ingestion pipelines, and secure, role-based data access.

• Integrate and adapt existing frameworks and programs to Snowflake using best practices for performance and security.

• Conduct performance tuning of queries, procedures, and workloads to meet high-volume data demands.

• Build and maintain technical documentation, ensuring compliance with data governance and security policies (including PHI/PII).

• Collaborate with Snowflake Admins, Hadoop Admins, and ETL teams on deployments and health checks .

• Implement audit and reconciliation frameworks to ensure data accuracy and trustworthiness.

• Stay ahead of the curve by evaluating new Snowflake capabilities and incorporating them into production environments.

What You Bring

• 4–6 years of cloud database experience with 2–3 years in Snowflake migrations and development.

• Strong expertise in Snowflake platform features —Snowpipe, Snowpark, Streams, Tasks—and Snowflake SQL .

• Proven track record of data migration from Big Data to Snowflake.

• 8 years of experience in Big Data/Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, Impala, PySpark, Sqoop, Kafka, StreamSets, etc.).

• Solid understanding of data architecture, ETL/ELT processes, and performance optimization .

• Hands-on experience with AWS services and Unix/Linux shell scripting.

• Strong SQL (Oracle, Hive, Impala) and PL/SQL skills with query tuning expertise.

• Snowflake Certification highly desirable .

Bonus Points For

• Experience securing Snowflake environments with row/column-level security, dynamic data masking, and identity protocols (SAML, OAuth, etc.).

• Familiarity with disaster recovery planning for Snowflake systems.

• Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor team members, and work across departments.
