TravelNurseSource is working with Rose International to find a qualified Oncology RN in Columbus, Ohio, 43210!
Summary: The Oncology Registered Nurse delivers specialized care to patients undergoing cancer treatment in hospital and outpatient settings. This role includes administering chemotherapy and other oncologic therapies, managing treatment-related side effects, and providing education and emotional support to patients and their families. The RN works closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining professional standards of confidentiality, ethics, and safety. Key Responsibilities: Educate patients and families about oncology treatments and procedures, addressing questions and helping reduce anxiety Administer prescribed medications and cancer therapies in accordance with established oncology nursing protocols Prepare and maintain oncology-related equipment and assist oncologists during treatments and clinical procedures Monitor patient comfort, safety, and treatment side effects, implementing appropriate interventions to improve quality of life Assess patients regularly, document clinical status and responses, and identify and report significant changes Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the medical record Respond to urgent or life-threatening situations following oncology nursing standards, policies, and procedures Develop and provide individualized education for patients and families regarding treatment plans, symptom management, and self-care strategies Participate in oncology quality improvement efforts to enhance care outcomes and clinical processes Advocate for patients throughout complex cancer treatment journeys and support informed decision-making Complete additional responsibilities within scope of practice as assigned Follow all facility safety procedures, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong critical thinking skills, commitment to service excellence, and effective communication abilities Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English Ability to interpret written instructions, follow verbal directions, and use computer systems effectively Physical capability to remain stationary for extended periods, move throughout the clinical setting, and lift or handle equipment weighing 50–100 lbs, including pushing, pulling, and bending Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team while maintaining professionalism Fine motor skills and coordination required for patient care and medication administration Ability to manage frequent patient and family interactions in an emotionally demanding environment Capacity to work independently or with minimal supervision when needed Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and maintain attention to detail Adequate visual acuity and communication skills necessary for safe and effective practiceRequirements
