Summer Internship - Sales or Service Focus
Job Summary
O’Neill Insurance is a growing, client-focused insurance agency committed to helping individuals, families, and businesses protect what matters most. With a reputation for excellent customer service and a strong community presence, we offer a wide range of insurance products, including personal, life, health, and business insurance.
We are looking for motivated and driven college students to join our team for a paid summer internship experience that offers hands-on exposure to the inner workings of a successful insurance agency. Interns will gain valuable insights into the sales and service sides of the insurance business.
Internship Overview
As an intern at O’Neill Insurance, you will have the opportunity to learn directly from licensed insurance professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will assist with day-to-day tasks, participate in client interactions, and develop practical skills in insurance operations. Interns will be placed in either a Sales or Service track based on their strengths, interests, and goals, which we will help identify during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
Sales-Focused Intern:
Assist agents in lead generation and prospecting activities
Learn how to quote personal and commercial insurance policies
Participate in sales calls, appointments, and presentations
Support marketing campaigns and community outreach efforts
Understand client needs and help identify appropriate insurance solutions
Service-Focused Intern:
Gain exposure to the daily operations that support client service in an insurance agency
Observe how service team members handle policy updates, renewals, and claims
Learn how the Agency Management System is used to manage client accounts, document interactions, and maintain policy accuracy
Assist with internal projects, documentation reviews, and quality checks
Explore how service teams contribute to long-term client retention and overall agency success
General Agency Exposure:
Attend team meetings and training sessions
Shadow team members in various roles
Learn the compliance, regulatory, and ethical standards of the insurance industry
Gain exposure to the digital tools and platforms that support agency operations beyond the agency management system (e.g., communication tools, quoting platforms, CRM systems, and marketing software)
Qualifications
Current college student entering their junior or senior year
Strong interest in either sales or client service
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated, reliable, and eager to learn
Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
