Position Overview
A respected Central Ohio law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Law Associate to join its Employment Law Practice Group. This role involves advising and representing businesses on a broad range of workplace legal issues, including wage and hour compliance, employment discrimination claims, workers’ compensation, unemployment matters, and workplace policies. The successful candidate will also support business clients with employment-related agreements, proactive HR compliance, and general business law matters, with the opportunity to grow into long-term leadership and partnership potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on employment law issues including wage and hour compliance, discrimination claims, handbooks, and workplace policies
• Represent clients in administrative actions and litigation involving workers’ compensation, unemployment, and employee grievances
• Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, severance packages, and settlement agreements
• Work closely with businesses to mitigate risk and promote proactive HR compliance
• Participate in business development by building client and referral relationships
• Contribute to marketing initiatives by publishing articles, speaking at seminars, and engaging in networking events
• Collaborate with attorneys in the Business Law Practice Group on overlapping matters
• Support firm-wide initiatives by serving on a committee or task force

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Active Ohio bar license
• Minimum of five (5) years of employment law experience
• Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws, employment discrimination claims, workers’ compensation, and unemployment matters
• General business law experience strongly preferred
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and referral sources independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; public speaking experience a plus
• Organized, self-motivated, and capable of balancing multiple responsibilities
