Position Summary
The Designer supports engineering and project teams by developing and maintaining detailed CAD drawings for utility, infrastructure, and pipeline-related
projects. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and designers to create accurate design documents, assist with project deliverables, and support drafting activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, and maintain CAD drawings and design documents.
- Develop detailed layouts, plans, profiles, and construction drawings for utility and infrastructure projects.
- Incorporate engineering markups and design revisions into project drawings.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to support project execution.
- Assist with piping, utility, civil, and mechanical design-related drafting activities.
- Ensure drawings comply with company standards, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain drawing files and project documentation throughout project development.
- Support design reviews and quality control efforts.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and communicate design updates to project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of hands-on CAD drafting/design experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or other relevant CAD software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting utility, infrastructure, mechanical, piping, HVAC, plumbing, or civil design projects.
- Familiarity with utility systems, pipelines, or related infrastructure environments.
- Exposure to engineering consulting, construction, or industrial projects.
- Understanding of drafting standards and best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- The ideal candidate is an early-career designer with strong CAD skills and experience in utility, infrastructure, HVAC, plumbing, piping, mechanical, or civil design environments.
- Direct oil and gas experience is not required, as candidates with transferable drafting and design experience can be successful in the role.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
