Job Description Miami University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Music Education to join an evolving music program committed to excellence in teaching, collaborating, and innovation. The successful candidate will:
- Teach undergraduate music education courses as assigned, including foundational coursework such as Introduction to Music Education and instrumental method courses
- Additional courses outside of the area of music education may be assigned based on departmental priorities and the candidate's expertise and interests
- Supervise student teachers and coordinate clinical experiences in public school settings
- Advise undergraduate students and contribute to a supportive learning environment
- Serve as faculty advisor for the Collegiate NAfME chapter
- Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair
- Doctorate in Music Education (ABD candidates will be considered)
- Demonstrated success teaching music education at the collegiate level
- Experience with curriculum development or program coordination
- A student-centered approach to teaching and mentoring
- Minimum of three years of successful K-12 instrumental teaching experience
