Lead Manufacturing Engineer
- Manufacturing engineering tasks focused on CNC machining (milling and turning) in a high-mix, low-volume environment. Primarily tactical responsibilities on the shop floor supporting CNC operations.
- Serves as a best practice/quality resource for CNC processes, tooling, fixturing, and setups.
- Has awareness of latest technical developments in CNC machines, cutting tools, CAM software, and machining strategies in own area.
- Contributes towards strategy and policy development for operations, and ensures delivery within area of responsibility (safety, quality, delivery, cost).
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in CNC operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
- Takes new perspective on existing setups, programs, and tooling solutions.
- Uses technical experience and expertise in CNC machining and programming for data analysis (cycle time, scrap, tool life, capability) to support recommendations.
- Uses multiple internal and limited external sources (shop floor feedback, quality data, tooling vendors, CAM/tooling best practices) outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Bachelor's Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience + Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience or relatable manufacturing experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly document setups, work instructions, and program changes.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills working with machinists, programmers, and engineers on the shop floor.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve machining problems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead CNC-related programs / projects (new part introductions, process improvements, tooling standardization).
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute process improvement programs.
- Established project management skills, with a focus on high-mix, low-volume CNC production environments.
