Deputy Clerk Legal Division - Full Time position available.

Benefits - Starting at $18 per hour with an increase after successful completion of probationary period. Marion County offers a benefits package that includes health, prescription, vision, dental and life insurance. Clerk employees are members of the Ohio Public Retirement System. Generous vacation and sick leave and thirteen paid holidays.
Hours- Monday- Friday, 40 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. * May require work beyond normal business hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, other duties that may be required and assigned- The Deputy Clerk reports directly to the Clerk of Courts or other staff as assigned.
Maintains files and Court Dockets for pending and finished cases. Files pleadings, issues notice, summons, warrants on complaints, subpoenas, etc. Receives monies and issues receipts. Greets visitors, answers telephone calls and assists Court users. Data entry and scanning into Court Case management system. Avoids errors in work causing inaccuracies in reports, records or technical data resulting in inaccurate or incomplete information. Interacts with the public and other agencies. All other duties assigned.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required with training or experience performing all types of clerical tasks. Paralegal certificate or three years’ experience in a legal office setting preferred. Must demonstrate ability to prepare and maintain accurate records. Skill in data entry and customer service or equivalent combinations of training and/ or experience. The ability to read and interpret documents, records accurately, communicate effectively, both written and orally. Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Should have knowledge of legal terminology, Court policies, and procedures of the Ohio Revised Code. Ability to handle sensitive/ confidential information. Demonstrated dependability and reliability.

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment- The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
