CVICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Akron, Ohio (44304) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Facility: 26-bed Cardiac Thoracic Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Position Type: Locum tenens / Travel Registered Nurse contract
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/5/2025 – End: 1/3/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2160 - $2210
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2, may flex to 1:3
• Scrub Color: Solid black

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Nursys verification required) – Registered Nurse jobs in Ohio
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 2 years of recent open-heart CVICU experience
• Recent EPIC EMR experience (within the last year; must be listed on resume)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Ability to float to other critical care units as needed
• CVICU Skills Checklist required upon submission
• Resume must reflect required clinical experience and certifications
• Maximum of 7 days requested time off (RTO) during assignment

CVICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced nursing care to patients with STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, and electrophysiology cases
• Care for open-heart surgery patients, including CABG and valve replacement procedures
• Manage overflow MICU patients, including those requiring respiratory failure management and ECMO therapy
• Assist with thoracic surgeries such as lobectomy, wedge resection, and VATS as needed
• Independently obtain laboratory specimens and initiate IV therapy
• Maintain and monitor open-heart patients until discharge or downgrade
• Document all care in EPIC EMR system
• Participate in required competency exams and complete skills checklists
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
