Manager, Compensation Projects

Planet Group
Sidney, OH

Notes from RM intake call: The team is looking for a Compensation Project Manager to act as a hands-on partner to the hiring manager, primarily focused on executing full-cycle compensation processes rather than leading strategy. This role will be heavily involved in performance management and compensation planning, including analyzing ratings, ensuring parity across teams, preparing data for comp planning, testing and validating the Oracle comp planning system, and supporting managers with educational materials and troubleshooting. Additional responsibilities include supporting Year-End Awards and the holiday party, general compensation benchmarking and offer support, and light involvement in benefits open enrollment. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of compensation experience, a bachelor’s degree (master’s can offset experience), and strong skills in Excel; experience with Power BI, Oracle, PayFactors, and benchmarking surveys (Radford, Towers Watson) is preferred. The role is hybrid (2–3 days in Cambridge, but fully remote possible) and is expected to last through the end of 2026, with flexibility in compensation for strong candidates. The interview process will likely include 2–3 rounds with a small panel of HR and leadership representatives, targeting a start date of October 14, 2025. Overall, the position emphasizes execution, data analysis, and hands-on support, with some light event planning and project coordination.

How will your role help us transform hope into reality? We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Compensation Projects Manager (Contractor) to support the Director, Compensation, Mobility and People Analytics in executing key components of the annual compensation cycle and performance management processes. This role will also contribute to year-end awards planning and partner with Talent Acquisition to support offer development. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience with compensation systems, and the ability to manage cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the successful candidate has demonstrated the ability to mix the science of compensation with the art of motivating and driving engagement while partnering day-to-day with employees, managers, team members and senior leaders to attract, retain and engage the BlueCrew, ensuring they feel their value.

What will you do?

Compensation Cycle Execution
  • Configure and maintain the Oracle compensation planning tool to support annual planning.
  • Prepare and deliver training materials for managers participating in the compensation cycle.
  • Audit compensation recommendations for accuracy and alignment with guidelines.
  • Track compensation budgets and prepare roll-up summaries for leadership review.
  • Support communication efforts during the compensation cycle.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate payout of all compensation awards.
Performance Management Support
  • Develop Power BI tools to facilitate performance calibration sessions.
  • Assist in translating performance ratings into compensation outcomes.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to provide process support and guidance.
Year-End Awards Planning
  • Serve as a core member of the planning team for year-end awards.
  • Facilitate the nominations collection process and curate submissions for leadership review.
  • Coordinate event planning for the awards ceremony, including day-of logistics and execution.
Talent Acquisition Partnership
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to support recruiting efforts.
  • Partner on offer development to ensure alignment with compensation strategy and market data.
Survey Participation
  • Participate in compensation surveys as needed
  • Manage all benchmarking data in Payfactors, our compensation management tool
What minimum qualifications do we require?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in compensation, HR operations, or related roles.
