Parks and Recreation Director

The City of Barberton is accepting resumes for a Parks & Recreation Director. This position is an exempt, unclassified position appointed by the Parks & Recreation Commission.

Salary Range: $69,532.81 - $99,981.28

The City is seeking a qualified Parks Director to lead the planning, development, and administration of parks and recreation programs and facilities. This position oversees staff and volunteers, manages daily operations, and works with the Commission to recommend and implement policies, programs, and projects. Responsibilities include supervising personnel, developing department procedures, preparing and managing the annual budget, monitoring expenditures, and overseeing program and facility planning, maintenance, and promotion. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of management practices, municipal government operations, parks and recreation administration, budgeting, and public relations, along with the ability to communicate effectively, analyze data, maintain accurate records, and build strong working relationships with staff, officials, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Recreation Administration, or Park Management, and certification as a Park and Recreation Professional by the National Recreation and Park Association. Minimum of five years’ experience working in a park and recreation field in a professional capacity preferred.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio Driver’s License and must be insurable under the City’s insurance policy.
