Position Summary

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately receiving, unloading, inspecting, documenting, and processing inbound inventory in a fast-paced 3PL warehouse environment. This role ensures that all inbound shipments are verified against purchase orders, ASNs, packing slips, and customer-specific requirements before inventory is made available for put away, storage, picking, or fulfillment.

The Receiving Clerk plays an important role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting client expectations, and ensuring inbound product is processed safely, efficiently, and correctly through the warehouse management system.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive inbound shipments from parcel, LTL, FTL, and container deliveries.
• Unload floor-loaded ocean containers safely and efficiently.
• Assist with unloading, pallet breakdown, counting, scanning, and product verification.
• Verify product quantities, SKUs, descriptions, lot numbers, expiration dates, serial numbers, and other required product details.
• Compare received product against packing slips, purchase orders, ASNs, and customer-specific receiving instructions.
• Accurately enter receiving information into the warehouse management system.
• Identify and report shortages, overages, damaged product, incorrect SKUs, or other receiving discrepancies.
• Label, sort, and stage product for put away, quality review, or further processing.
• Ensure inbound product is handled according to customer, warehouse, and compliance requirements.
• Maintain organized receiving paperwork, records, and documentation.
• Communicate receiving issues to supervisors, inventory control, customer service, or account management teams as needed.
• Support warehouse cleanliness and safety standards in the receiving area.
• Follow all company safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and equipment guidelines.
• Work with team members to meet daily receiving goals and inbound processing deadlines.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse, receiving, inventory, or distribution experience preferred.
• Experience working in a 3PL warehouse environment is a plus.
• Ability to accurately count, match SKUs, and identify product discrepancies.
• Basic computer skills and experience using a warehouse management system preferred.
• Ability to read packing slips, purchase orders, labels, and product information.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be dependable, organized, and able to meet daily productivity expectations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, and lift throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
• Ability to unload floor-loaded containers, which may require repetitive lifting and movement.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
• Ability to operate or work around warehouse equipment safely.

Preferred Skills

• RF scanner experience.
• Warehouse management system experience.
• Forklift, pallet jack, or other warehouse equipment experience.
• Knowledge of lot control, expiration date tracking, serial number capture, or barcode labeling.
• Experience handling multiple clients’ inventory in a 3PL environment.
• Experience unloading floor-loaded containers.

Work Environment

This position works in a warehouse and distribution center setting. The Receiving Clerk may work near dock doors, forklifts, pallet jacks, inbound freight, pallets, and floor-loaded containers. Accuracy, safety, teamwork, and urgency are critical to success in this role.
