The Toledo Clinic's Sports Medicine Department, with locations in Maumee and Toledo Ohio, is seeking a full-time Medical Receptionist to provide administrative support in a busy medical office setting. This position will work Monday-Thursday (8-4:30) and Friday (8-12:00). Previous experience in a medical office is preferred.
General Summary
Perform various clerical duties to support the operation of the office.
Works under the supervision of the Office Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
- Answering phones - courteously and professionally.
- Scheduling appointments, lab tests, surgeries, etc.
- Verifying referrals and/or pre-certifications.
- Updating insurance information.
- Answering general patient questions.
- Taking messages accurately and relaying to appropriate personnel.
Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To
- Collecting co-pays.
- Preparing and/or submitting charge tickets.
- Preparing and cleaning exam rooms.
- Sorting, filing and scanning patient charts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Required:
- Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.
- Completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication, phone, and organizational skills.
- Computer skills helpful.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
Education:
- HS diploma or GED.
Preferred:
- Previous clerical experience in a medical office.
