Teen Academy Instructors
The Office of Engagement at the Art Academy of Cincinnati is hiring contracted instructor positions for Summer Teen Academy courses. Teen Academy is for ages 13-18 and each course has 8-12 students. Instructors can teach more than one course if applicable. AAC upperclassman with the required experience are welcome to apply.
Each course consists of five two-and-a-half-hour class sessions. Details about Summer 2026 courses such as the description and schedule can be found here.
Responsibilities:
- Communicating with the Associate Director of Engagement to coordinate instructor onboarding and orientation
- Creating a lesson plan and syllabus for all class sessions that include active learning and making
- Collaborating on supply list for course
- Submitting lessons, supply lists, a syllabus, and any other required documents by the deadline
- Instructing studio-based lessons with the objective of teaching specific skills to students while giving them the space to create work around the subject matter they choose
- Demonstrating beginner-to-advanced techniques applicable to the course and customizing instruction for each student’s skill level
- Challenging a class of up to 12 students with personal review of their work and facilitating positive and supportive peer-based review conversations or critiques
- Fostering an inclusive, respectful, and safe studio environment for all students
- Completing survey and assessment requirements
Experience and Skills Required:
- A degree in art, design, education, language, or a related field OR equivalent work experience
- Teaching experience
- Passion for working with and supporting teenagers
