Your role
Position Summary
The Beverage Production Supervisor oversees daily operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role manages a team of multiple associates, ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, and product quality while meeting production targets. The supervisor fosters a collaborative work environment, drives continuous improvement, enforces safety protocols, and supports customer satisfaction by delivering consistent, high-quality products. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise and manage a team of multiple associates, ensuring productivity, accountability, and adherence to company policies.
- Production Oversight: Oversee operations of can fillers, bottle fillers, bag-in-box fillers, and tunnel pasteurizers to meet production goals and maintain quality standards.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring optimal allocation of labor and resources to meet daily targets.
- Equipment Operation: Monitor and operate filling and pasteurizing equipment, ensuring consistent functionality and minimal downtime.
- Quality Assurance: Enforce quality control procedures, ensuring all products meet regulatory and company standards.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or process inefficiencies to minimize production disruptions.
- Training and Development: Train associates on equipment operation, safety protocols, and quality standards to enhance skill levels and efficiency.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure team adherence to food safety regulations, workplace safety guidelines, and company policies.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and manage raw materials and finished product inventory, ensuring adequate supplies for production needs.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate logs and documentation of production outputs, equipment maintenance, and incident reports.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with maintenance, quality, and logistics teams to ensure smooth workflow and address cross-functional issues.
- Regulatory Adherence: Maintain compliance with GMP, HACCP, FDA regulations, and certifications such as Kosher, Halal, Organic, and SQF, ensuring proper documentation and audit readiness.
About you
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent level of education required. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, Engineering, or equivalent work experience in production or operations management is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment required, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency with production software, inventory systems, and Microsoft Office tools for reporting and documentation.
- In-depth understanding of food safety systems like HACCP and GMP. Familiarity with FDA, USDA, or other relevant regulatory standards. Knowledge of certifications such as Kosher, Halal, Organic, and SQF.
- Strong knowledge of production scheduling, resource allocation, and process optimization. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Strong understanding of can fillers, bottle fillers, bag-in-box fillers, and tunnel pasteurizers, including their operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA standards and food safety regulations. Experience implementing and maintaining quality assurance protocols.
- Proficiency in using production and inventory management systems. Familiarity with data analysis tools for tracking and optimizing production performance.
- HACCP Certification, SQF Practitioner, or similar credentials is preferred. Applicants without this certification to obtain it within the first 6 months of employment if hired.
