Healthcare Facilities Director

Job Overview

University Hospitals Health System is seeking an experienced Executive Director of Facilities Operations to lead facilities management across a large, multi-site ambulatory care network spanning 300+ outpatient locations throughout Northeast Ohio .

This executive leader will drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and service quality across a complex healthcare portfolio. The role partners closely with senior leadership and clinical stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered facility operations that support system-wide growth and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for facilities operations across a large ambulatory healthcare network
• Develop and scale a high-performing facilities management program supporting 300+ outpatient sites
• Oversee maintenance, engineering, vendor management, asset management, and facilities service delivery
• Ensure compliance with all Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, and life-safety standards
• Drive operational consistency, standardization, and continuous improvement across sites
• Manage multi-site teams and provide leadership across multiple layers of facilities staff
• Oversee operating budgets, forecasting, capital planning, and financial performance
• Partner with executive leadership, physicians, and administrators to align facilities strategy with clinical and organizational goals
• Manage contracted services and select support operations (e.g., security, logistics, grounds, and related services)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum 7+ years of management experience in facilities, engineering, or integrated operations services
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in hard and soft facilities services
• Proven leadership of large, multi-site healthcare facilities portfolios (hospital systems, ambulatory networks, or academic medical centers preferred)
• Experience managing large teams and multi-level organizational structures
• Strong financial acumen with ownership of operating budgets and forecasting
• Demonstrated experience working with senior executives and clinical leadership teams

Preferred Experience

• Healthcare system or academic medical center facilities leadership experience
• Oversight of 100+ site portfolios or large distributed healthcare networks
• Experience building or scaling ambulatory facilities programs
• Strong background in regulatory compliance and healthcare environment standards
• Northeast Ohio or similar large health system market experience
