About the Role:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) PRN plays a critical role in supporting occupational therapists by delivering high-quality rehabilitative care to patients on an as-needed basis. This position focuses on assisting patients in regaining or improving their daily living and work skills through therapeutic activities and exercises tailored to individual needs. The OTA PRN collaborates closely with occupational therapists to implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and adjust interventions accordingly. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as the role requires responding to fluctuating patient volumes and varying clinical settings. Ultimately, the OTA PRN contributes to enhancing patients' independence and quality of life by providing compassionate and effective therapy support whenever needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current and valid state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the United States.
  • AHA Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow treatment plans and work under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work PRN during the week
  • Experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, or rehabilitation centers.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
  • Additional certifications related to specialized therapy techniques or patient populations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a PRN (as-needed) capacity.
  • Bilingual skills or cultural competency training to better serve diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist occupational therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans designed to improve patients' functional abilities.
  • Conduct therapeutic activities and exercises under the supervision of an occupational therapist to help patients regain skills.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist promptly.
  • Prepare and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support coordinated care.
  • Adapt therapy techniques to meet the unique needs of each patient, considering physical, emotional, and cognitive factors.
  • Comply with all healthcare regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies during patient care.
