Quality Engineer

Job Description

A financial company in the Cincinnati, OH area is seeking Senior Quality Engineers to help support supporting major migration and modernization efforts in response to a recent acquisition. This opportunity will be a contract role to 9/30 and can sit remotely (EST).

Other responsibilities will include:

• Proven experience leading manual and automation testing teams across multiple projects

• Expertise in test planning, estimation, scheduling, and resource allocation

• Strong knowledge of test strategy definition, risk-based testing, and release sign-off

• Hands-on involvement in test design reviews, defect triage, and stakeholder communication

• Experience mentoring and guiding team members on testing best practices and automation standards

Testing Methodologies

• Extensive experience working in Agile/Scrum methodologies

• Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and continuous testing practices

Automation Testing Expertise

• Hands-on experience in test automation framework design, enhancement, and maintenance

• Web Automation Tools: WebdriverIO, Katalon Studio

• API Testing & Automation: Postman

• BDD Frameworks: Gherkin-based test development

Core Manual Testing Skills

• Expertise in functional, regression, system, integration, and UAT testing

• Strong skills in writing test scenarios, detailed test cases, and execution reports

• Excellent defect analysis, documentation, and root cause identification

• Ability to independently handle problem-solving and complex query-based testing scenarios

Programming & Scripting Languages

• Proficient in Java, JavaScript, Groovy, SQL, and Gherkin

• Ability to review, optimize, and standardize automation code across teams

• Experience building reusable and maintainable automation components

Database & Backend Testing

• Strong expertise in writing complex SQL queries for data validation and backend testing

• Hands-on experience with MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server

• Skilled in data integrity checks, joins, stored procedures, and reporting validations

CI/CD & Build Integration

• Experience integrating automation suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins

• Familiarity with Node.js for test execution and build automation

Version Control & Collaboration Tools

• Proficient in Git, Git Bash, and GitHub for source control and test artifact management

Test & Defect Management Tools

• Extensive experience with qTest and HP ALM for:

o Test case management

o Test execution tracking

o Defect lifecycle management

Security & Environment Management

• Experience using HashiCorp Vault for secret and credential management in testing environments

· 5-8+ years of experience of Quality Engineering (manual and automation)

· Postman for API Testing & Automation

· Java & JavaScript

· qTest or similar tracking platform

· WebDriver IO or similar Test Automation

GIT · Clear to pay (FIS application)

· Typescript

· Perfecto Cloud Lab

Application Performance Monitoring / Logging software (Dynatrace /Splunk)
