Job Title: Survey CAD Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Survey CAD Technician to join an established civil engineering firm in Columbus, OH. The Technician will collaborate with survey field crews to create detailed CAD drawings and maps using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The surveys will cover a range of projects including topographic, boundary, ALTA, as-built, construction staking, and utility surveys. Projects span local municipalities, commercial site development, residential subdivisions, K-12, retail, parks, and roadways. The successful candidate will work with an experienced team dedicated to training and career growth.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with survey managers and project teams to understand project specifications and scope.
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software to create 2D and/or 3D designs for land surveying projects.
• Prepare topographic, ALTA, boundary, and other types of survey mapping drawings.
• Work with field crews to accurately draft survey data.
• Create layouts for land surveys, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.
• Prepare easement descriptions and exhibits.
  
  

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience in survey CAD, land surveying, topographic surveys, and ALTA surveys.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles.
  
  

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Survey CAD experience is strongly preferred; experience in other civil engineering disciplines is also valuable.
• A degree in civil engineering or CAD is preferred.
• Ability to take training and implement it into day-to-day responsibilities.
  
  

Work Environment

The position requires working 100% in the office. Candidates with field experience may also be utilized in fieldwork. The survey group has expanded from 2 to over 20 members in recent years, offering opportunities for growth and career development. The firm provides one-on-one training with licensed engineers, annual performance reviews, potential pay increases, and bonuses. The team prioritizes internal promotion before considering external hires.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, Ohio.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
