Part-Time Driver - The Compost Exchange

Location: Central Ohio

Hours: Part-time, early mornings on weekdays

Compensation: Starting at $20/hour. This is a contractor-based position.

Vehicle: No personal vehicle use required

About Us:

The Compost Exchange is Central Ohio’s largest residential and commercial food scrap collector. We partner with schools, restaurants, offices, and other businesses to divert organic waste from landfills and turn it into nutrient-rich compost. Our mission is to make composting easy, reliable, and impactful for our community.

What You’ll Do:

As a Part-Time Commercial Driver , you’ll operate a Compost Exchange vehicle along scheduled routes to collect food scraps from commercial accounts. You’ll handle larger totes, ensure proper loading and unloading, and help maintain a clean and professional appearance on-site.

Responsibilities include:

• Safely operate a Compost Exchange box truck or service vehicle on commercial routes
• Collect, load, and unload 45-64-gallon compost totes (may require use of lift gate or equipment)
• Log collection weights, site notes, and participation data via mobile app
• Maintain cleanliness and professionalism during pickups
• Communicate route updates or service issues with the operations team
• Assist with occasional tote washing and basic vehicle cleanliness
• Must be comfortable working outside and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Experience driving commercial vehicles or box trucks (CDL not required but a plus)
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs repeatedly
• Attention to detail and commitment to route accuracy
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-first attitude
• Interest in sustainability and local food systems is a bonus

Our Hiring Process:
