SafeHaven is a non-profit peer support center dedicated to providing comprehensive, barrier-free mental health support to adults in Darke, Miami, and Shelby Counties. We complement clinical services by offering a "home away from home" where members access educational, social, and vocational opportunities at no cost. We pride ourselves on being the "first step" for those seeking help, offering 100% free services. Whether through our structured day programs or our after-hours HOPE-Line. Our mission is to prove that recovery is achievable through the right combination of support and community. SafeHaven is more than just a resource center; it is a community where members find the support they need to overcome the pain of mental illness. Position Overview
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the organization and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring the organization’s mission and goals are achieved. The Executive Director is the sole employee of the Board of Directors of SafeHaven, INC.
Key Responsibilities
· Leadership and Strategic Planning:
· Develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
· Provide visionary leadership to staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and inclusive organizational culture.
· Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and in the media.
Operational Management:
Oversee daily operations, ensuring programs and services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to support operational excellence.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Financial Management:
Prepare and manage the annual budget in partnership with the Board and finance staff.
Monitor financial performance, ensure fiscal responsibility, and report regularly to the Board.
Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor relations, and special events.
Board Relations:
Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff.
Support Board recruitment, development, and governance activities.
Provide timely and accurate information to support Board decision-making.
Community Engagement and Partnerships:
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, partners, funders, and government agencies.
Promote the organization’s mission and programs to enhance its visibility and impact.
Staff Management and Development:
Hire, train, supervise, discipline and/or dismiss as necessary and evaluate staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
· Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
· Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting, fundraising, and resource development.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
· Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
· Experience working with a Board of Directors.
· Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Work Environment
The Executive Director works in an office environment, with occasional evening and weekend work required. Some travel may be necessary for conferences, meetings, and community events.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Range: $55,000-$70,000 Benefits package includes $550 health insurance stipend (paid at the 1st pay of every month), Life insurance, 401K will be matched up to 2% by company, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
