Electrical Controls Engineer
Design, coordinate, and execute electrical and automation projects to support manufacturing operations. Lead electrical upgrades and new installations while providing technical support to facilities remotely and onsite. Identify opportunities for automation, including robotics, data collection, and energy savings, to improve efficiencies and safety. Ensure that all automated systems meet required functions and production needs. Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Machine Tool Operation, Plant Services, Plant Maintenance, and Production personnel to scope, develop, and install new and rebuilt systems.
Responsibilities- Design large electrical enclosures, sub-panel layouts, and wiring diagrams to align with UL/CUL/CSA certifications and NFPA79 wiring standards.
- Review other engineer’s designs and perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on large electrical panels and equipment.
- Work with project originators to ensure the scope of work is properly defined and the sequence of operation is captured.
- Maintain software, programs, drawings, and files by keeping them current and accurate.
- Develop electrical panel designs and conduct design reviews with the team.
- Coordinate with Operations teams to schedule, coordinate, and install equipment and upgrades.
- Write PLC, HMI, Drive, and other programs for assigned projects, demonstrating expert-level PLC programming skills.
- Provide startup training on controls for production operators and plant maintenance staff.
- Create necessary bills of materials.
- Travel within the US and Canada, with anticipated travel requirements of 35% (two weeks per month, home on weekends).
- 3-5 years of experience working with Rockwell (Allen Bradley) PLCs.
- Experience in electrical panel design using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Expertise in PLC programming, particularly with Allen Bradley PLC's Studio 5000.
- Strong skills in electrical design, troubleshooting, and schematic development.
- Experience with Rockwell Automation and automation systems.
- Ability to travel 30-35%, with the first six months requiring two weeks per month, home on weekends.
The work environment includes an office setting with travel to different plants across the country. The worksite can be based in Columbus or Cincinnati. Travel within the US and Canada is anticipated at 30-35%, with initial projects in CA, IL, MN, and MS. Employees will travel one to two weeks out of the month and return home on weekends. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Chester, OH. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $62.00/hr.
