We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specializing in correctional healthcare to join our multidisciplinary team. This role involves providing comprehensive mental health services within correctional facilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care to a diverse inmate population. Duties

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations and risk assessments, for incarcerated individuals.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that incorporate psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and behavioral interventions as appropriate.
• Manage medication administration, including prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting psychiatric medications based on patient response.
• Collaborate with correctional staff, case managers, and other healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation during acute psychiatric episodes or behavioral disturbances.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review patient progress and modify treatment strategies accordingly.
• Educate patients about their mental health conditions and treatment options to promote engagement and adherence.
• Support discharge planning and continuity of care upon release or transfer within the correctional system.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols related to infectious disease control, emergency procedures, and facility regulations.

Experience

• Valid Nurse Practitioner license with certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP-BC or equivalent).
• Prior clinical experience working within correctional facilities or similar secure environments is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in psychiatric assessment, medication management, and crisis intervention.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations including HIPAA, Workers' Compensation law, and correctional healthcare standards.
• Experience with telehealth platforms is advantageous for remote consultations.
• Strong understanding of mental health conditions across diverse populations, including individuals with developmental disabilities or complex comorbidities.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and patient education.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and empathy while maintaining safety protocols.
