Essential Job Functions – Responsibilities
- Work with Sales and Customer Service teams to develop a multi-month, linear production plan
- Interface with Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing and Operations Manager and other functional areas as required
- Assign ship dates to Sales Orders based on capacity and lead time of items being ordered
- Create work, manage and prioritize work orders in ERP system to level load production schedule and support customer requirements
- Communicate any delivery problems and coordinate schedule changes with Operations Manager
- Participate and contribute towards process improvement initiatives and goals
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Ability to multi-task, respond to change quickly and handle other duties as required
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Coordinate replenishment of off the shelf items
- Perform prep work for SIOP meetings with Sales, Operations and Purchasing
- Review SIOP inputs (sales forecast, historical based forecast, existing supply and demand)
- Recommend production schedule and forecast changes in SIOP meetings
Leadership
- Support supervisor in defining and implementing policies, procedures and processes
- Work with supervisor to provide training and leadership to lower level Planners
- Serve as primary back up in absence of supervisor
Education – Experience – Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Three years planning experience in manufacturing environment
- Three - Six years experience with MRP/ERP
- APICS training advantageous
- Excellent PC skills
- Strong working knowledge of production scheduling practices
- Maintain familiarity with company product line
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
- Ability to work independently and employ effective time management skills
- Strong emphasis on accuracy, attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to read and comprehend manuals, work instructions and MSDS sheets common to a manufacturing/production environment.
- Strong communication skills; written, oral and inter-personal
