Thrift & Retirement Analyst (Part-Time)

Position Summary:
This position supports the administration of the Marathon Petroleum Thrift Plan and other related plans by carrying out day-to-day operational activities and ensuring processes are completed accurately and in accordance with plan provisions, regulations, and applicable laws. The position works closely with internal partners and third-party service providers to support operations, financial reporting, and audit activities. In addition, the role provides data, documentation, and general support to internal and external stakeholders to assist with special projects and ongoing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serves as subject matter expert for the Thrift Plan.
- Ensures the Thrift Plan is administered in compliance with applicable plan provisions, regulations and laws.
- Reconciles Thrift Plan contributions and loan payments to ensure accuracy.
- Monitors Internal Revenue Service (IRS) contribution limits related to the Thrift Plan and provides related communications to employees.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with third party partners including recordkeepers and consultants.
- Researches and assists with resolution of plan participant inquiries and issues.
- Collaborates with Accounting to prepare Thrift Plan financial statements and provides documentation to auditors conducting the Thrift Plan audit.
- Provides data, information, and additional support as needed to internal and external stakeholders to facilitate successful completion of special projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field required.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience or in an area of Total Rewards required.
- Demonstrated experience using a large-scale HRIS platform (such as Workday) preferred.
Skills:
- Demonstrates ownership and understanding of assigned responsibilities and is open and receptive to feedback on work product.
- Analyzes information and performs data analysis by reviewing data sets, identifying key elements, and drawing appropriate conclusions.
- Prepares data reporting using internal and external databases to support plan administration and analysis.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders.
- Develops an understanding of the rules and regulations governing the administration of the Thrift Plan.
