Essential Functions

• The selected candidate will work on a First Solar-funded research project focusing on the synthesis and characterization of colloidal quantum dots for photovoltaic applications. The primary responsibilities include:
  • Synthesis of Quantum Dots: Develop and optimize synthetic methods for producing colloidal quantum dots with tailored optical and electronic properties.
  • Material Characterization: Perform advanced characterization techniques such as UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and electron microscopy to assess material quality and performance.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze experimental data to evaluate trends and improve quantum dot properties for targeted applications.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with project collaborators, including First Solar team members, to align research objectives and communicate progress. This includes preparing presentations and written reports.
  • Lab Maintenance and Safety: Maintain laboratory equipment, order supplies, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Literature Review: Conduct thorough reviews of current literature to identify research gaps and guide experimental design.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a current Doctoral Student in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with a strong master/bachelor's degree and relevant research experience may be considered.
• Experience in wet-chemistry synthesis, particularly in nanomaterials or colloidal systems, is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with analytical techniques such as spectroscopy and microscopy are preferred.
