The Prep Cook supports our mission and values by providing high quality food service to all residents and employees. The basic objective is to promote optimal nutritional status for each resident by providing diet in accordance with physician's orders and consistent with the residents' individual physical, cultural and religious needs. The food service will be on duty fourteen hours a day to prepare three meals and a bedtime snack. The department will provide food for special occasions.

The Prep Cook primary responsibilities will include:

• Prepares and portions food such as salads, desserts and vegetables in accordance with production sheets, standardized recipes, portion control and time schedules.
• Serves meals in Main Kitchen.
• Assists in the dish room.
• Puts stock away using FIFO (First in First out).
• Maintains high standards of sanitation and completes daily and special cleaning tasks as outlined on the sanitation checklist.
• Meets with the Dietary Manager to review daily menus and special functions to ensure proper portion control and that special diet needs are being met.
• Bakes general baking goods.
• Attends in-service training sessions.

What is required in this position?

• Requires applicant to be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 10th grade education.
• Serve Safe certified.
