The RELAY Method is conducting this search on behalf of a client. Our client is a founder-led women’s fashion brand with a loyal and growing customer community, an active retail presence, and high standards for how the store looks, runs, and feels to everyone who walks in. The Cleveland location functions both as a flagship retail boutique and as the primary fulfillment hub for the brand’s e-commerce operation — which means this role carries real operational weight beyond the sales floor.

The Role

This is an ownership role, not a floor role. The store needs a manager who takes full responsibility for what happens inside it — the customer experience, the team, the inventory, the fulfillment operation, and the daily standard. The founder should be able to trust that the store is running well without having to check. That trust is what this role is built on.

You will manage the store end-to-end: the sales floor and the back room, the team and the systems, the in-store experience and the e-commerce orders that ship from this location. You are the primary point of contact for staff, customers, and the founder. You set the tone for what this store is every day it opens.

This is a full-time, in-person role in University Heights. The schedule includes weekday, evening, and Sunday hours. Flexibility and reliability are both required.

What You Will Do

Store Operations & Standards

  • Open and close the store according to established procedures — POS setup, alarm, end-of-day reconciliation, lockup
  • Maintain the store at a consistent standard of cleanliness, organization, and visual presentation at all times
  • Refresh displays and merchandise the floor to highlight new arrivals, promotions, and seasonal product
  • Ensure merchandise is steamed, tagged, and floor-ready; direct and oversee inventory tagging as needed
  • Keep the back room organized, functional, and operationally clean
  • Oversee cleaning staff and manage supplies including the in-store coffee station
  • Monitor for and report theft, damaged goods, or any inventory discrepancies

Sales Leadership & Customer Experience

  • Lead the sales floor with presence — engaging customers, supporting styling decisions, and driving in-store conversion
  • Personally process and drive full-price sales to support commission and store performance targets
  • Oversee fitting room experience and maintain a high standard of personal styling support
  • Schedule and manage private styling appointments and coordinate any extended-hour bookings
  • Build and maintain relationships with returning clients; offer personalized service, early access, and styling suggestions
  • Collect customer contact information and support email and text marketing sign-ups
  • Run in-store promotions and events; collaborate with local businesses for pop-ups as directed

E-Commerce Fulfillment & Inventory

  • Monitor online orders daily; this location is the primary fulfillment hub for the brand
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and alert the founder to low-stock or restock needs without delay
  • Handle returns and exchanges with care; flag any fulfillment issues quickly
  • Delegate packing tasks to staff as needed while maintaining personal accountability for quality and timeliness
  • Participate actively in merchandise selection, providing input based on in-store customer feedback and sales trends

Team Management & Communication

  • Schedule and supervise part-time sales associates
  • Direct and develop the team — assign tasks, follow through on completion, and maintain clear expectations
  • Be present and accessible on the floor; lead by example, not by delegation alone
  • Provide weekly updates to the founder on store performance, staffing, customer feedback, and inventory needs
  • Communicate proactively and promptly — surface issues early, close loops, and keep the founder informed
  • Assist with brand support tasks — content capture, marketing coordination — during slower retail periods

Who You Are

You take ownership of the space you are responsible for. When something is off, you fix it. You communicate clearly and often. You lead your team by being present, not by disappearing to the back. You hold a high standard for how the store looks and runs, and you hold it consistently, not just when someone is watching.

  • Experienced in retail management with a track record of hitting sales targets and running a store operationally
  • A natural communicator — warm with customers, direct with staff, and responsive to the founder
  • Organized and systems-minded: you build habits and workflows that make the store easier to run every day
  • Comfortable managing both the customer-facing floor and the operational back room with equal attention
  • A leader who is present — your team knows where you are, what is expected, and that you will follow through
  • Accountable for outcomes, not just tasks: you own results, not just effort
  • Reliable and consistent: the store runs the same way whether or not the founder is watching
  • Genuinely interested in fashion and styling — you enjoy helping customers find what works for them

Schedule

This is a full-time role with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Standard weekly schedule:

  • Monday – Thursday: 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Thursday evenings: 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Friday: 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Sunday: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Additional evening hours or private appointments may be scheduled at the manager’s discretion. The role observes major holidays per company policy.

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary + commission/bonus structure
