Senior Accountant for Nonprofit
Compensation: $85,000 - $106,000 annually plus excellent benefits.
ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND
PACE is a local community nonprofit organization founded in 1976 to provide job training and placement services for the Asian Pacific Islander communities in Los Angeles. PACE has since expanded into a variety of service areas, all tailored to meet the growing and changing needs of the multi-ethnic communities in Los Angeles County. Now, in addition to job training and employment services, significant PACE programs encompass: business development; early childhood education (Head Start); financial education and asset building; housing and rehabilitation services; weatherization and energy-conservation programs; and affordable housing development. PACE serves more than 60,000 people each year with our wide scope of services with approximately 350+ staff. JOB PURPOSE:
This Senior Accountant position is responsible for assisting the Controller and other Fiscal Officers and becoming part of the accounting team which may involve but limited to: grant accounting and reporting, allocations of shared costs, budget development, ensuring compliance with Uniform Administrative Requirements and contract terms and conditions. Position is responsible for monitoring daily cash flow to ensure sufficient cash is on hand. Perform various reconciliations, ensuring month-end and year-end accrual are posted to the general ledger. Making sure various financial statements and grant reports are prepared accurately and timely to the funding source.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Fiscal Officer in the preparation of monthly reports to assure compliance with Federal, State and contractual funding source regulations.
- Verify and post all transactions that are properly documented in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
- Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries
- Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
- Responsible for processing Accounts Payable invoices, issuing checks, and corresponding with vendors and administrative staff.
- Responsible for bank and cash reconciliation.
- Appraise, evaluate, and inventory real property and equipment, recording information such as the description, value, and location of property
- Analyze business operations, trends, cost, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
- May supervise and review activities and work of of accounting department staff when the Controller & Fiscal Offers are unavailable while accomplishing other critical functions.
- Assist in overall program accounting, budgeting and financial reporting policies and procedures.
- Assist with contract audits, corporate audits, including A-133 and SEFA
- Other duties assigned in accounting
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from an accredited college or university
- At least two years of experience as an accountant/bookkeeper in a fund accounting system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is a must
- Knowledge of principles published in Government Accounting manuals and familiarity with audit and reporting requirements for Federal, State, and local grants.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Experience with non-profits and MIP Fund Accounting is highly desirable
- Prior supervisor experience is preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have valid Driver's License with adequate auto insurance
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination that includes drug and alcohol screening
