Location and Flexibility To support collaboration, this role maintains an in-office presence in a hybrid capacity (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) at one of the following offices: Boston, MA; Charlottesville, VA; Columbus, OH; or Durham, NC. Travel to client sites (10%) will be required on an ad hoc basis.

The Opportunity

As an Associate Principal, Strategy , you will lead at the intersection of Business Strategy, Customer Experience (CX), Technology, and User Experience in guiding the creation and evolution of digital products and experiences. You will shape solutions across native apps, responsive sites, bots, voice assistants, and more for well-known brands, operating at the product level and across a client’s broader digital ecosystem.

Great product sits at the intersection of Desirability, Feasibility, and Viability. Our Strategy practice identifies competitive whitespace, facilitates client workshops to define business goals and priorities, participates in user research, drives ideation, and articulates business value to inform product directions. You will counsel clients on digital initiatives to drive business outcomes in product, employee-facing, and contact center environments. As a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will champion CX-driven digital transformation and help define long-term value through seamless, emotionally resonant experiences.

Responsibilities

• Tell compelling stories through presentations outlining research, vision, and recommendations balanced with technical realities
• Identify and articulate business goals, market goals, and user goals
• Create clarity from ambiguous problems and focus the team on high-value directions
• Consult on customer acquisition, retention, and CX performance optimization for digital products
• Analyze large information sets and develop insightful recommendations and product vision
• Communicate product decisions to senior-level stakeholders
• Lead ideation sessions and drive creative problem solving
• Collaborate with designers, researchers, and project managers to set product direction
• Work with WillowTree leadership to identify whitespace in our strategy offering
• Contribute to commercial activity, including strategic input into client pitches and RFP responses

Qualifications/Skills

• Experience in an agency or consultancy with digital product/software strategy engagements
• Strong grasp of user-centered design principles and CX research techniques
• Proven track record of launching products
• Experience leading client engagements and understanding client needs
• Experience managing workshops, timelines, and presentations
• Significant mobile and emerging technology knowledge
• Ability to tell stories with presentations and structure narratives for impact
• Public speaking skills and ability to facilitate discussions
• Ability to articulate and quantify the business impact of CX-led digital strategies

Annual Salary Range

$140,000 - $200,000 USD
