Radiant Horizon Family Services is seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in various counties in Ohio. As a DSP, you will assist individuals in achieving greater independence, health, and inclusion in their communities in accordance with their Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and in compliance with Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) rules and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care & Health Support
Provide assistance with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, and bathing
Assist with mobility and transfers (including use of gait belts, lifts, wheelchairs)
Monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and general wellness
Administer medications (after successful completion of DODD-approved training)
Support dietary needs through meal prep, feeding, and hydration tracking
Must be okay with being around pets
Community Integration & Skill Building
Encourage community involvement through outings, recreational activities, and events
Assist with transportation to medical appointments, work programs, and errands
Teach and reinforce life skills including cooking, budgeting, and personal safety
Help individuals achieve goals outlined in their ISPs and behavior support plans
Behavioral and Emotional Support
Model respectful and positive interactions
Utilize approved strategies to support individuals with behavioral challenges
Promote self-advocacy and personal choice in daily decision-making
Documentation and Compliance
Complete accurate daily progress notes and incident reports per DODD Rule 5123:2-17-02
Ensure compliance with individual-specific protocols and plans
Report health, safety, or welfare concerns immediately per MUI/UI procedures
Maintain confidentiality and protect individual rights at all times
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Must be 18 years of age or older (21+ for driving positions)
Valid Ohio driver’s license and acceptable driving record (if transporting clients)
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within assigned area
Ability to pass:
BCII/FBI background check
Drug screening
Abuser Registry
Nurse Aide Registry check
Preferred (but not required):
Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
Completion of CPR/First Aid certification
Completion of Medication Administration (DODD-approved) training for Med Certs 1, 2 & 3
Familiarity with Ohio ISP structure and Behavior Support Rules
Required Training (Provided upon Hire):
Initial and Annual DODD Provider Certification Training
Rights of Individuals with DD
MUI/UI Awareness
Universal Precautions & Infection Control
Emergency Response and Evacuation Procedures
Person-Centered Planning and Service Delivery

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Must be able to lift and assist with mobility (up to 50 lbs)
Work may involve exposure to weather during community outings
Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays
