ICU Registered Nurse Job Details – Dayton, OH

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel RN contract)
• Location: Dayton, Ohio 45409 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Unit: Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU), Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours/week
• Duration: 13-week contract (potential extension up to 16-20 weeks)
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: December 22, 2025 (earliest end date January 3, 2026)
• Weekly Pay Range: $1800–$1840/week
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, geriatrics
• Facility: 36-bed Neuro ICU, Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Floating: Required to float between main, south, and north campuses (all within 15 miles)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday required

ICU RN Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state accepted; must obtain Ohio RN license before contract begins)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU nursing experience or 2 years in a comprehensive stroke center at a large hospital
• At least 2 years of total RN experience required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required for ICU nurse jobs)
• Proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips
• EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required
• Previous charge nurse and Level I trauma experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Ability to float to other ICU units as needed

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care to patients with neurological diseases and disorders, including seizures and strokes
• Care for overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical ICU and Heart & Vascular ICU
• Manage and monitor patients with complex conditions: ischemic/hemorrhagic strokes, neuromuscular disorders, brain and spinal tumors, respiratory failure, renal/liver failure, and more
• Assist with bedside procedures: EVD placement, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, trach and G-tube placement, central and arterial line placement
• Operate specialized equipment: ICP monitoring, EVDs, Limitor spinal drains, subdural drains, arterial lines, EEG monitors
• Interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage ventilated patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, etc.)
• Float to other ICU units and hospital campuses as needed, providing clinical support and patient care
• Maintain infection prevention standards, adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols
