Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a mixed acuity Med/Surg Tele – Medical Oncology unit, with at least 2 years of inpatient nursing experience required and a rotating day/night schedule.

Details

• Mixed acuity PCU/Med Surg Tele unit specializing in medical oncology patients, with approximately 24 PCU beds and 24 MS Tele beds
• Patient population includes a variety of diagnoses ranging from solid tumors to blood cancers, with a high-acuity patient population
• Staffing ratios aim for 1:4–5 but may vary based on unit needs
• Rotating day/night shift schedule (3x12-hour shifts); shift assignments (days, nights, or a combination) are determined by department needs and reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• Day shift hours: 7:00–19:30; Night shift hours: 19:00–7:30
• Weekend shifts are variable
• Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Equipment used includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, Bladder Scanner, Alaris pumps, Continuous Bladder Irrigation, and PCA pumps

Requirements

• Active OH or Compact RN license required
• BLS (BCLS) certification required, must be active
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient nursing experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as a second reference; co-worker references are not accepted

Additional Information

• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention on this unit
• Chemotherapy competence is not required; the facility offers a 2-day chemo training course for interested candidates
• Pediatric patients are extremely rare on this unit and would typically be cared for by permanent staff; pediatric experience is not required
• Ohio fingerprinting is required and must be initiated promptly after signing a contract; candidates outside of Ohio may need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to complete urgently
• Former employees of this facility are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation
• Local candidates are accepted
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and must be 7 days or fewer for the duration of the contract
• Multiple parking options are available to agency staff for purchase through CampusParc, ranging from on-site garage access to budget surface lot options with shuttle service to the medical center
