Grocery Design Project Manager – Remote with Heavy Travel (Night Shift)
Location: Remote (must live near a major U.S. airport)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 PM – 4:00 AM
Contract: 5-Month W2
Pay Rate: $35–$40/hour (based on experience)
Travel Requirement: 75%+ nationwide

A leading global innovation company in the grocery space is seeking a Grocery Design Project Manager to support large-scale retrofitting projects across the United States. This position is part of a high-visibility initiative to modernize and enhance existing grocery locations to meet evolving customer and operational needs.

This is a remote role with extensive travel and night shift hours. Candidates must be based near a major U.S. airport for efficient travel logistics.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site execution of construction and design projects during overnight hours (7 PM – 4 AM)
• Manage third-party labor teams and ensure execution of nightly phasing plans
• Maintain clear communication between site operations and senior leadership
• Identify and escalate onsite issues or risks, and anticipate potential roadblocks
• Review designs and ensure installation work complies with permitting and food safety standards
• Order and oversee installation of shelving and structural components
• Coordinate changes within live, operational environments without disrupting customer or associate experience
• Travel nationwide Monday–Friday for the duration of the contract, with assignments lasting 5–6 months in one city before rotating

Required Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience in project management, preferably in construction, grocery, or retail environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to make decisions under pressure
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, BIM360, Bluebeam, and CAD
• Experience reading and interpreting construction or composite drawings
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Ability and willingness to travel 75%+ and work consistent overnight shifts
• Must live near a major U.S. airport (within 1–2 hours)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale retail or grocery buildouts
• Prior experience supporting fast-paced, high-volume store environments
• PMP certification
• Background in engineering or construction
• Familiarity with operational health and safety standards

Disqualifiers

• Unwillingness to travel or work overnight hours
• Living too far from a major airport (more than 2 hours away)
• Lack of access to consistent and reliable communication platforms
