About the Role:
The Prep Cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by ensuring all ingredients and components are prepared efficiently and to the highest quality standards before service. This position focuses on the preparation and smoking of meats, contributing to the overall flavor and presentation of dishes served. The Prep Cook will work closely with the culinary team to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to food safety regulations. This role requires attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to manage time effectively to meet the demands of a fast-paced kitchen. Ultimately, the Prep Cook supports the kitchen’s success by delivering well-prepared ingredients that enable chefs to create exceptional meals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in smoking meats and basic food preparation techniques
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Reliable Transportation
- Available to work overnight shift
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen or barbecue restaurant
- Certification in food handling or culinary training
- Familiarity with different smoking methods and equipment
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and smoke various types of meats according to established recipes and safety standards
- Preparing items for daily production as needed
- Assist in chopping, slicing, marinating, and seasoning ingredients to ensure readiness for cooking
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep area, including proper storage of ingredients
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to kitchen management
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure food quality and prevent contamination
Skills:
- The required skill of smoking meats is applied daily to prepare flavorful and tender proteins that meet the restaurant’s quality standards
- Prep Cooks use their knowledge of smoking techniques to control temperature, timing, and seasoning, ensuring consistent results
- Preferred skills such as culinary training and food safety certification enhance the ability to maintain high hygiene standards and efficient workflow
- Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential for coordinating with chefs and other kitchen staff to meet service demands
- Overall, skills combine to create a productive and harmonious kitchen environment focused on delivering excellent food experiences
Shift: 8PM - 4AM
Pay: $18-$19 per hour
