Travel Nursing Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel contract)
• Location: Columbus, Ohio 43210 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Unit: 21 East and West, Head & Neck and Neuro (Med/Surg Tele)
• Duration: 13-16 weeks (flexible end dates, holiday coverage available)
• Shifts: 3x12-hour rotating shifts (Day: 07:00-19:30 / Night: 19:00-07:30); flexible scheduling required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Orientation: Comprehensive orientation (first week Mon-Fri dayshift; second week 36 hours on-unit with preceptor)
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1940-$1990

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (compact or Ohio state) required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Oncology nursing experience preferred
• Ability to float to other Med/Surg Oncology units as needed
• Flexible with scheduling; weekends may be required
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager, director, or formal leadership role)

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex medical and surgical needs
• Perform IV starts, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy management, and chemotherapy administration
• Manage drain systems (JP, Hemovacs) and operate specialized equipment (GE telemetry, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds)
• Implement infection prevention and patient fall prevention protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, social services)
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
• Participate in self-scheduling and adapt to changing shift assignments based on unit needs
