Spherion is hiring a General Manager for our client in Urbana, Ohio! We are seeking a highly strategic, entrepreneurial-minded General Manager to take ownership of daily operations and aggressively drive sales and growth for their store, which offers furniture, flooring, and mattresses. This role is a business leadership position, requiring a leader who can not only manage the day-to-day but also set the strategic direction for the store. The right candidate will operate with significant autonomy and be responsible for contributing to a mission of community revitalization.


Responsibilities:
Strategic Growth & Sales Leadership:
Develop and set year-over-year targets for growth and profitability.
Develop monthly sales goals and implement innovative strategies to achieve them.
Monitor expenses, vendor relationships, and inventory levels with an eye toward operational efficiency.


Marketing & Community Engagement Management:
Manage and coordinate all marketing and promotions to increase store traffic, brand awareness, and customer retention.


Operational Management:
Oversee all store operations, including opening/closing, inventory, and merchandising.
Maintain accurate point-of-sale and transaction records.
Ensure a clean, organized, and safe store environment.


Team Leadership & Customer Experience:
Recruit, train, and supervise part-time or volunteer team members as needed.
Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer concerns, acting as the ultimate escalation point.


Working hours: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM


Skills:
Experience in furniture, home goods, or flooring retail is a plus.


Education:
High School


Experience:
4-7 years


Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in retail or small business General Management or equivalent P&L responsibility.
Strong business acumen with a focus on driving sales, strategic growth, and operational efficiency.
Proven track record of setting and achieving strategic goals (e.g., year-over-year targets, marketing initiatives).
Self-starter who thrives in an independent, mission-driven role, comfortable with significant autonomy and decision-making authority.
