Product Manager
  • Job Title: Product Manager
  • Job Status: Full Time
  • Location: 100% remote
  • Compensation: Salaried (Exempt)
  • Position Type: Direct Hire, note, this is not a contract role
  • Pay Range: $132,500 - $155K based on experience
  • Shift: 9am - 5pm ET

We're looking for an exceptional Product Manager to elevate our payroll product. The ideal candidate is a great listener and communicator, able to prioritize needs across stakeholders while keeping everyone informed. You should be independent yet highly collaborative, organized, and intellectually curious, with a knack for quick problem-solving using new technology.

Let us introduce ourselves...

We’re a team of driven, conscientious individuals with a clear mission: to make accounting and payroll fast, simple, and affordable for millions of American businesses and their accountants.

It’s not enough to have a “good job”. It takes connection, culture, encouragement, growth opportunities, challenges, communication, and so much more to create an environment where people and ideas flourish.

We are Patriot Software; a hybrid remote company with 175+ employees across the United States and a co-working space in Canton, Ohio.

Our search for a new team member always starts by seeking a quality individual who desires to live by our core values:

  1. Be Customer Obsessed - In everything we do, we start with the customer and work our way backwards. Our primary focus is how we deliver tremendous value for the American businesses we serve.
  2. Lead With Speed - We believe in doing things quickly and not being afraid to take big chances. Moving fast and making bold moves is how we stay ahead.
  3. Don’t Cut Corners - We don’t skimp on quality. We make sure to own our technologies, development, and operations so that the entire experience is the best it can be.
  4. Create a Better Us - We’re always improving by keeping it simple, saying no to things that don’t help our customers, automating what we can, and spending our money wisely.
  5. Follow The Golden Rule - We treat others how we would want to be treated, disagree and commit, and welcome feedback from anyone, anywhere in the company.
  6. Grow, Be a Leader - We look for leaders at all levels and always put the customer and team above ourselves. We want to build a pro team of high-caliber players, with high accountability and trust across all individuals.

What You’ll Be Doing:

We’re looking for a candidate with substantial SaaS experience and a strong track record of successful feature/product launches.

Our teams are fully equipped to take projects from concept to launch, with developers, automated testers, designers, and you—the PM—focused on outcomes, not just outputs.

Your weekly responsibilities will span five core areas, adjusting based on the features and products you're developing.

  • Working closely with your Development and Design team. Ensure upcoming work is clearly defined, everyone understands the 'why' behind their tasks, and broader solutions are identified to prevent recurring customer issues.
  • Developing a deep knowledge of the Customer. Engage directly with customers to understand their needs and challenges, ensuring our software stays simple and intuitive, while collaborating regularly with support and success teams to identify chronic pain points and create actionable solutions.
  • Developing a deep knowledge of the Data. Develop and track success metrics for projects to determine success or failure, and monitor customer behaviors via data queries to identify trends and opportunities. Leverage data interpretation skills to connect ideas and features directly to their intended outcomes for impactful results
  • Developing a deep knowledge of the Business. Develop a comprehensive understanding of Patriot Software’s business, including sales, marketing, legal, training, and customer service. Build trusted relationships with each of your stakeholders, actively engaging with them to understand their unique concerns and constraints.
  • Developing a deep knowledge of the Industry. Analyze industry trends, forecast customer behaviors over the next five years, and conduct competitor assessments to identify our strengths and areas for improvement. Become a go-to market expert within the company, shaping our strategic positioning with actionable insights.

Please note this is a sample of what you’ll be doing. This job requires you to be able to adapt to change quickly in order to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Your duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years in a SaaS Product Manager role.
  • 2+ years in payroll, accounting, or fintech.
  • Experience working with development, design, and QA teams.
  • Working knowledge of Agile software development lifecycles and release management concepts specifically related to cloud (SaaS) software.
  • A proven record of product launches, including identifying, rolling out, and iterating on MVPs, while utilizing metrics to support those iterations.
  • Favors informed but quick decision-making to facilitate a culture of speed.
  • Has the ability to recognize the difference between permanent decisions and those that can continue to be iterated upon.
  • Demonstrable data analysis, user research, and product vision skills.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Empathetic, passionate, and driven. You will need to develop strong relationships with your team, sales, marketing, support, and our customers.
  • Open-minded, humble, and a team player.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Consistent, reliable high-speed internet access.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
