Raw Materials Procurement Specialist — Aerospace Metals & Composites

A day in this role

By 8:30 a.m. you’ve translated MRP signals into purchase orders for aluminum plate and titanium tube. Before lunch, you’re on the phone with a stainless coil mill finalizing lead times and confirming certifications. The afternoon brings a pricing review for thermoplastic carbon composites (both unidirectional and laminate) and a quick huddle with Quality to disposition a supplier NCR. You close the day by updating supplier scorecards and sharing a brief metrics snapshot with management.

• Be the go-to contact for suppliers across phone, email, and portals.
• Place and manage POs in the ERP to support production schedules and customer demand.
• Track commitments, expedite as needed, and adjust plans to protect delivery.
• Build durable supplier partnerships that balance quality, cost, and on-time performance.
• Analyze supply/demand, align with Sales and Account Management on quotes and orders.
• Partner with Quality, Engineering, Accounting, and Operations to resolve issues at the root cause.
• Compile purchasing KPIs and present concise updates to leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement across sourcing and material flow.

What you’ll bring

• Experience buying raw materials in aerospace/defense or other precision manufacturing environments.
• Working knowledge of aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, and titanium—across sheet, plate, tube, extrusion, and coil—plus thermoplastic carbon composite materials (unidirectional and laminates).
• Ability to read technical procedures/specifications and interpret business documentation.
• ERP/MRP proficiency and strong skills in Excel, Word, and databases; familiarity with forecasting and planning fundamentals.
• Proactive problem-solver for supplier quality, delivery, and cost challenges.
• High accuracy in data entry, order management, and external communication.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in operations, materials management, business, or related field preferred.
