Power Transmission Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- 4+ years of design experience in the Power industry, consulting background preferred.
- PE Licensure or EIT working towards taking the PE exam.
- Prociency in design software to develop the design deliverables. Must be proficient with PLS CADD and AutoCAD.
- Experience with tower structures (pole, lattice, guyed).
- Comprehend and interpret safety codes, utility standards, and regulations (NESC, ASCE, IEEE).
- Thrives in a work environment where one collaboratives with other team members (Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve appropriate design or drawing issues and accomplish objectives.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience developing estimates and budgets.
- Design of high voltage (69 kV to 500 kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD.
- Creation of comprehensive drawing packages within the utility infrastructure industry for transmission line systems.
- Providing mentorship for younger power engineers.
- Participating in site walks for current projects. Less than 10% travel.
- Perform computer modeling and sizing of structures and transmission line components.
- Coordinating with Survey/Geotech/Manufacturers.
- Preparing engineering drawings from rough sketches or general engineering and design information (verbal instructions and notes) using CAD software programs.
- Completing a full range of drawing production work, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations on substantial variety and complexity of non-routine assignments.
- Working on various assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components, and refining rough sketches.
- Producing initial rough designs, sketches, redlines, or mark-ups on ongoing projects.
- Analyzing reports, drawings, and tests, to plan and design projects.
- Applying design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
- Completing and reviewing design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
- Incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into transmission design and layouts.
- Organizing and maintaining all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
