Mazak/DMG Mori CNC Turning Specialist — Hard Turning

If you love translating complex prints into crisp, reliable programs and building repeatable setups for hard-turned parts, this role is for you.

You will be responsible for

• Programming, setting up, and running CNC lathes to hard-turn metal components while upholding quality, safety, and documentation standards.
• Producing programs directly from drawings in Mazatrol or standard G/M code with a strong command of GD&T.
• Leveraging preferred controls: Mazatrol T, T32, Smart, Smooth X; experience with CELOS is valued.
• Holding ultra-precise tolerances (to 0.0001″) through precise measurement and targeted machine/tool adjustments.
• Inspecting parts for chips, marring, and other defects; sorting nonconforming parts by flaw type.
• Mounting and aligning tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces; ensuring secure setups.
• Pausing machines to remove parts or change tooling, setup, or workpiece location per sequence requirements.
• Transferring programs from servers to CNC controls via network connections.
• Running moderate to very complex components efficiently and repeatably.
• Meeting critical engineering specs and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
• Documenting setup sheets, tool lists, and notes to speed future runs.
• Driving process improvements that enhance safety, quality, and throughput.
• Communicating clearly with Manufacturing Management and peers during shift turnover.
• Performing routine preventive maintenance (grease, oil, coolant, filters) and maintaining equipment and supplies.

You’ll excel if you have

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of hands-on CNC lathe setup/operation across multiple materials.
• Strong math skills and the ability to read/understand machine programs.
• Confidence working from verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision.
• A safety-first mindset in partnership with EHS personnel.

Hands-on conditions

• Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally; stand for long periods; climb stairs as needed.
• Consistent PPE use (eye, hearing, hand, foot protection; others as required).
• Exposure to oils, coolants, and typical machine shop chemicals.
• Ability to speak English and contribute in a team setting.
