Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer

About the Position: We are seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead our growing Transportation and Infrastructure Team. This role is designed for a technical expert capable of overseeing the research, design, and construction of load-bearing structures, including bridges, roadways, and retaining walls. You will provide strategic leadership, ensure structural soundness across all projects, and play a pivotal role in the expansion of our bridge design and inspection services. Key Responsibilities Structural Design & Leadership: Provide subject matter expertise for the design, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of bridges and transit structures for state highways, county roads, and city streets. Complex Analysis: Perform and review technical computations involving load-bearing elements, ensuring designs meet or exceed industry standards for safety and functionality. Supervisory Oversight: Plan and organize engineering activities; provide situational guidance and mentorship to junior engineers to ensure high-quality deliverables. Inspection & Investigation: Plan and conduct field inspections of existing structures; apply critical thinking to reach conclusions from testing results and statistical analysis. Project Coordination: Interface with clients, owners, and contractors; assist in proposal development and represent the firm at professional conferences and meetings. Innovative Problem Solving: Develop economical and logical structural solutions for complex infrastructure challenges, particularly where site conditions impact design. QA/QC Management: Ensure all engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, budget controls, and project objectives. Required Qualifications Experience: 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in structural or civil design, with extensive experience in bridge planning and construction management. Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Ohio is required (multi-state licensure is a plus). Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Master’s Degree is highly preferred). Technical Mastery: Highly proficient in structural engineering principles, design/build processes, and relevant construction laws and codes. Analytical Skills: Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to collate data and reach conclusions for high-complexity technical deliverables. Logistics: Ability to adapt to varying schedules to meet business needs; occasional travel may be required for project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications Bridge Inspection Certification: Experience with NBIS (National Bridge Inspection Standards) protocols. Advanced Software: Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAAD, AASHTOWare, or similar predictive modeling tools.
