Lead Direct Support Professional
Take Another Chance is seeking an experienced Lead Direct Support Professional to join our team. Lead DSPs serve as on-site leaders within a 24-hour residential HPC setting , helping ensure individuals with developmental disabilities receive safe, structured, and person-centered support while maintaining operational stability, compliance, and continuity of care.

This role includes core tasks such as assisting with activities of daily living , medication administration , transportation , community integration , and the implementation of individualized support plans .
Compensation: $19.00–$21.00/hour , with starting pay determined based on relevant experience, certifications, demonstrated leadership ability, transferable skills, and job-related qualifications.
This is a leadership position within a 24-hour residential setting, with scheduling based on client and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Support
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to DSP staff
- Help maintain staffing stability and continuity of care across scheduled shifts
- Assist with onboarding, coaching, and supporting team members
- Promote professionalism, accountability, and effective communication within the home
- Address concerns promptly and escalate issues appropriately when needed
Client Care & Service Oversight
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with Individual Service Plans (ISPs)
- Support individuals with activities of daily living and community integration as needed
- Monitor and report changes in health, behavior, or safety concerns
- Assist with medication administration oversight and documentation accuracy
- Help maintain a calm, structured, and person-centered environment
Documentation & Compliance
- Review and maintain accurate, timely, and audit-ready documentation
- Monitor EVV completion and required communication logs
- Follow all company policies, ISP requirements, Ohio DODD regulations, and safety procedures
- Assist with maintaining medication records, incident documentation, and compliance tracking
- Participate in required trainings and maintain certifications
Home & Operational Oversight
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized residential environment
- Assist with household operations, appointments, transportation, and scheduling coordination
- Report maintenance, safety, or operational concerns promptly
- Utilize email, Microsoft Teams, EVV systems, and other electronic documentation platforms effectively
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
- Reliable daily access to a personal vehicle to transport clients.
- Proof of active auto insurance meeting Ohio minimum requirements.
- Ability to pass both a criminal and a driving history background checks.
- Current AHA Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Current Category I Medication Administration Certification with the Ohio DODD.
- Minimum 2 years of prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
- Minimum 1 year of prior leadership, senior DSP, or supervisory experience .
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, including bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to work assigned shifts consistently to support operational stability and continuity of care.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, accountability, and timely communication in a leadership role.
Professional Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to lead by example while maintaining a person-centered approach to care in high-responsibility environments.
- Ability to identify, escalate, and help resolve operational or compliance concerns appropriately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including attention to detail, accurate and timely documentation, and maintaining audit readiness.
- Ability to work both independently and collaborate within a team while exercising sound judgment and decision-making
- Professional interpersonal skills to effectively support individuals served and support staff performance, continuity of care, and overall house operations
- Strong understanding of person-centered supports, client rights, and maintaining professional boundaries
- Ability to adapt to changing client needs while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor
- Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and commitment to quality care
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in developmental disabilities or residential care settings
- 2+ years of previous experience serving in a Lead DSP, Team Lead, or similar leadership role
- Previous experience training, mentoring, or coaching staff members.
- Current Ohio DODD Medication Administration certification of Category II and/or III
- 1+ years of previous experience with EVV systems, electronic documentation platforms, and compliance tracking.
- 1+ years of previous experience participating in compliance audits, ISP implementation, incident reporting, and/or staff documentation review.
- Experience supporting individuals with high behavioral support needs, personal care needs, or community integration goals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Brittco, or similar systems.
