The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) and the Expo Center are seeking service-oriented individuals who excel in fast-paced environments and take pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences. If you are approachable, communicative, and enjoy engaging with a wide range of people, we invite you to consider joining our team as an Admissions Agent. This variable hour opportunity offers flexibility, allowing you to manage your own schedule while contributing to some of the region’s most high-profile events.
As an Admissions Agent, you will play an essential role in ensuring smooth event operations and positive guest interactions. With the venues operating seven days a week, you will have the opportunity to support a diverse range of events including assisting with line management at Rose City Comic Con to credential checks at the Society of Investigative Dermatology or greeting attendees at the Portland Boat Show. This role may also include opportunities at Portland’5 Centers for the Arts offering variety and dynamic work experiences in some of Portland’s premier venues.

What will you do:
- Represent the venue with professionalism and courtesy, serving as a welcoming first point of contact for guests.
- Check guest badges to ensure appropriate access to designated event areas.
- Scan, collect, and accurately count tickets for various public shows and events.
- Manage and guide patron lines to support smooth and efficient event entry.
- Assist guests with general wayfinding and provide event-specific wayfinding support to ensure guests reach their intended destinations with ease.
- Provide timely communication with lead and management to report any issues that may arise.
- Assist patrons with coat and luggage check services.

TO QUALIFY
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Please be clear and specific in your application materials on how your background is relevant.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma, or GED, and
- One year of experience working directly with the general public in a high volume situation. (this could look like retail or fast food experience) or
- Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities
Shift and schedule: This position offers flexibility by operating on an event driven schedule, allowing you to balance work with your personal commitment and is expected to get 2 shifts per month. You’ll have the opportunity to support our team during nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, with your schedule adapting to the operational needs and special events at the OCC.
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a dynamic event environment, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Extensive walking and standing for the whole shifts is often required. Sometimes shifts will be outside. Frequent reaching, lifting, stooping or carrying of equipment and materials may be required. You should expect to be required to lift, pull and carry up to 10 pounds.

Like to have qualifications
You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider them when identifying the most qualified candidates. Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience, including the military, or life experience that are relevant for this position.
- Able to work a variety of shifts to meet the needs of the business and be dependable.
- Experience in a public venue or a multi-purpose event facility.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a front-facing customer service position within the last 3 years.
