Production Associate

Job Position

Responsible for loading steel into shear and cutting to proper length.

Hourly pay range: $16.75 - $19.75

Essential functions:

• Load bundles onto shear.
• Pulls tag off bundle and records information onto the shear report.
• Gets a new heat code for that bundle.
• Tags boxes with proper information for part number, heat code, date, and initials.
• Pull a 19' bar through shear to backstop cuts bar.
• Takes that bar and checks measurement with ruler or tape ruler to make sure for proper length of shear report.
• Make sure the shear is making a clean cut if not get supervisor to change blades.
• Make adjustment to backstop if needed for correct length.
• Pushes bar through again to backstop make another cut check length again.
• If length is good, continue cutting bar until last cut, take and measure that for right bar end cut on shear report.
• When done cutting for shift, hand in shear report and tags bundle.
• Clean up around the shear.
• Unloading steel trucks
• Training on how to use the magnetic crane safely and responsibly.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and training:

High school diploma or GED

Minimum qualifications:

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Must be able to read and understand work instructions.
• Must be able to read a tape measure or ruler.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others.

Physical demands:

• Ability to twist, bend and lift repetitively.
• Ability to stand continuously for 8-12 hours.
• Good physical conditions to lift to 25lbs repetitively.
• Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills.

Environmental conditions:

• Exposure to loud noise.
• Exposure to hot and humid conditions.
• Double hearing protection and eye protection are always required in all production areas.
• Steel toe boots with metatarsals are always required.
