Position Overview:


The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is seeking an experienced Programmer 5 (PR5) to join the Ellis Development Team. This is a senior-level, full-stack Java development role requiring hands-on experience in enterprise application design, front-end development, RESTful services, and database performance optimization.


You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with application developers, architects, project managers, and QA analysts to support mission-critical transportation systems. The successful candidate will be onsite 5 days a week at the ODOT headquarters in Columbus, OH.




Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Application Development Manager and project team in an iterative/agile environment.



• Participate in requirements gathering and translate specifications into functional code.



• Design and develop high-performance Java-based applications and responsive front-end interfaces.



• Create RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot.



• Perform SQL query optimization and troubleshoot application performance issues.



• Maintain and enhance legacy components while contributing to modern architecture goals.



• Lead and mentor junior developers when needed.



• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience:
